The following are examples of research topics that would allow VWB to accomplish the goal of establishing a well managed, sustainable and world class ecotourism and educational site that will be owned and managed by the local community in partnership with the VWB initiative.

1. Improve the ‘responsible tourism’ model at Pang Soong Lodge Outdoor Education and Research Centre (PSL) based on criteria established by the international industry leaders and World Tourism Organization (WTO). Step up PSL for certification and begin process.

2. Conduct a ‘green’ audit on PSL based on criteria set by international industry leaders known for ecolodges. Propose a cost effective plan that will convert it into a true ecolodge. Step it up for certification and begin process.

3. Expand the private sector/community tourism model throughout Thailand (VWB). Create Thailand specific criteria and set the stage for nationwide implementation.
